Hmmm
[ 1/2/2004 11:23:50 AM]
I'll take
responsibility for good ol'
number 56. It's the least I
can do.

#56
[ 1/2/2004 10:23:51 AM]
Since it's
sort of what we do, I have
lovingly constructed a
comic from the hides
of Owlbears and gum. The
secret ingredient is
love. This begs the
question: "Is Bowen freed
of responsibility since he
did not help make this, or
is it all his fault?" Yes,
see it, empty cup in
rag-clad hand, panhandling
the mutherfudging
question.
I am in the midst of the
Fairy Tale region commonly
and affectionately refered
to as Nowhere,
Pennsylvania. I
know what you are
thinking: Oh, then
he's with Bowen.
Sadly, such is not the
case, as the powers of
Nowhere, PA lend
themselves to mischief,
and PA lends itself to a
hump-ton of Nowhere.
To illustrate Nowhere to
you a bit better, let me
regail you with an account
of the computer screaming
and beeping when I
accessed the internet.
"Dialing-up," the
inhabitants of this
Woodland Realm call it.
Hopefully, we can avoid
any
wandering bands on our
way to Pittsburgh, the
location of Nowhere's
noble see.
Oh, and, if you've never
sat with your significant
other's ex while s/he
tuned a guitar for an
hour, twice, let me tell
you: it tastes like those
crazy pills
we're always
going on about.

Happy New Years
[ 1/2/2004 02:25:51 AM]
Hey
gang, I hope everyone
had a happy holiday. I
was out of town for a
few days so I wasn't
able to get a hold of
Hal and didnt' get
around to writing a
comic for Friday. Hal,
I'm sure, took care of
this because lately
he's the been the
conciencious one and
I'm the one who can't
be motivated to do
anything. It's a big
role reversal.
Anyways, Hal has no
doubt written a comic
for tomorrow, it's
sure to be hilarious
and I look forward to
seeing it as much as
you do. This weekend
I'll get back on
track.

also.
[ 12/30/2003

My
dad emailed me to
say "good work" on
today's comic.
...
Thanks for coming
by everyone.
That's all then.

Horse Ovaries
[ 12/30/2003
01:49:39 PM]
I have very
little desire
to eat tiny
bits of food
until I am
stuffed,
whilst trying
not to have
some tart in a
gown spill
champagne on
my tie. I also
have even less
desire to
stand in the
street until
midnight in
the
winter
in
the Northeast,
even were it
to be the only
legit New
Year's Eve
streets of
Time Square;
quote First
Night unquote
celebrations
are whack.
wack? Whack.
So I'm going
to hang out
with Steelcoat,
Gambiani,
Tragicpants,
and some other
people who
don't have
tags. Our
conversation
went like
this.
Me: Should I
bring my TV?
SC: I have 31"
of TV. Bring
yourself.
Me: Should I
bring my
Gamecube?
SC: Only if
you bring your
TV, too.
and
TP: Should I
bring my XBox?
Me: Can you
bring your TV?
TP: It'll take
some unwiring.
So we should
have at least
four sets [one
for Dick
Clark],
presumably in
one room, any
number of GBAs,
and some
terrible
poison.
Tragicpants
for example is
bringing the
terrible
poisons
necessary to
concoct
Screaming
Nazis,
which I'll go
ahead and
predict taste
like terrible
poison. And
that's how I
handle the
passing of the
year.
one look?!

Bowen
Chaney Jr.
[ 12/30/2003
11:50:18 AM]
For some
reason I
HAVE been
wearing a
lot of
strange
costumes
in the
past few
episodes.
No doubt
it's some
sort of
Freudian
desire to
shed my
identity
and adopt
new, more
powerful
personas.
Not that
Freud and
me wanting
to be a
super hero
have much
to do with
each
other, but
I hardly
see how
that's
relevant.
I think
it's
perfectly
natural to
want to be
someone
besides
yourself
from time
to time. I
don't,
however,
think it's
natural to
put a
tubby man
in a
skin-tight
elf suit
though.
That's
just
wrong.
Hal pretty
much had
this one
wrote by
himself
because I
was lazy
this week
and didn't
come up
with
anything,
but I
certainly
sympathize
with the
plight of
having to
deal with
irreparable
game
glitches
while
playing
'Soul
Reaver.'
I feel
like I'm
taking
crazy
pills.

Save
Early,
Save
Often
[ 12/30/2003
03:17:39
AM]
I am
pretty
fried
from
doing
the
comic,
but I
have
had
the
theme
to
"Muppet
Babies"
playing
in my
head
for
about
3
hours.
I
can't
believe
Jim
Henson's
estate
is
still
making
money
off of
those
things.
The
Muppets,
I
mean.
Not
the
Muppet
Babies.
Which
are no
longer
commercially
viable.
Are
they?
Oh! I
remember
why I
have
that
song
stuck
in my
head!
Kermit
sings:
When
your
world
looks
kind
of
weird
and
you
wish
that
you
weren't
there...
and
Piggy
sings:
Just
close
your
eyes
and
make-believe,
and
you
can be
anywhere.
Bowen
put a
twist
on
this
strip
when
he
added
the
last
frame
there.
Obviously
I had
intended
it to
be a
visualization
of the
game,
more
fun to
draw
-- and
presumably
read
--
than
us
sitting
on the
couch
going,
"Oh
snap,
the
game
froze."
We put
Bowen
is all
sorts
of
crazy
costumes.
He's
got
more
looks
than
Derrick
Zoolander.
Some
fun
additions
to the
ETC
page.
Oogh,
I'm
done.
only
took
about
six
hours.
